Italian manufacturer Sicce, known for its well-respected pumps and circulation devices is soon to enter the LED market. Information on the new products is scant to say the least and images are few and far between – what is available is mainly from Sicce’s Facebook page, snaps by hobbyists and writers at shows in the US and one advance PDF.
What is known at present is there will be two models (though rumours persist of a nano version), the AM466 and the AM650. The former at around 18” x 14” uses over 400 LEDs and the latter just over 500 at around 24” x 14”. PAR ratings are not available for the 650 but is rated at 245 for the 466 (measured 23” below water surface).
The units, at around 1.6” thick, certainly look sleek and attractive and use passive cooling to radiate the heat away from the large numbers of LEDs - a distinct difference to the competition. The units are sure to have full controllability in terms of sunrise and sunset modes.
At present it is not known when the lights will be available in the UK.
