A 'unique' maroon clownEcoreef UK has received its first shipments of sustainable sourced fish from Eco Aquariums in Papua New Guinea

“I have never been so nervous in my life driving back from the airport at Manchester. I needn’t have worried. The fish were amazing! We played it fairly safe on species as we were really using this first shipment as a trial run. We had taken as many precautions as we could, ensuring the fish were well packed and the agents in Singapore were aware of the importance of this shipment” said Dale Pritchard, Director of Ecoreef UK

“We had some very special arrivals in the shipment including two very unique Maroon Clowns, some amazing Perculas and a lone Golden Angel which has a beautiful shaped body that is almost circular”

Feedback from retailers has been very positive, with Ocean Corals commenting “these are the best Perculas I have ever had in” according to Dale.

The most unusual Maroon Clown and the Golden Angel are now out of quarantine and are on display at The Reef in Barrow in Furness. The Maroon has been paired with a small male for the companies’ breeding programme. Any offspring that are produced and sold will go toward the development of Ecoreef UK, Eco Aquariums PNG and the Island of Daugo who are the fishing community. The profits will be split three ways to ensure the locals benefit from the genetics of the fish which are undoubtedly very unique.
